Page URL's using model vs. id

I have a site where we would like to use different syntax for product URL's.

Instead of:

http://www.yoursite.com/product_info.php?products_id=123

We would like to have:

http://www.yoursite.com/product_info.php?p..._model=SRP00101

Basically just using the model name in the URL instead of the product id. I have looked through the core files but don't see an easy solution. I am willing to bet there is an easy way to do this though. Any ideas?????

Thanks,

Aaron

This won't answer your question but another thought for you. Ultimate SEO URL's contribution will give you a URL such as;

www.mystore.com/your-product-name-p-1.html

I don't have any ideas for your original question, sorry.

Thanks for your reply. I tried that Contribution a while back (for SEO purposes, not this most recent inquiry) but it seemed to cause more problems than it solved. Considering that most search engines have no problem indexing PHP files, I decided to disable it. It doe sgenerate neat URL's though.
