Hi

I downloaded oscommerce through Plesk. It automatically placed the entire shop within the http folder. I am worried about secure access etc. Should some of the files have been placed in https folder? How do I go about securing the admin area to prevent others from accessing it?

Thanks, appreciate it!

If you have a host with the secure (https folder) and a non secured (http folder) you need to put your files into BOTH folders and maintain them when you change them.

To secure admin

1) rename admin to something new and unique (not admin2 or new_admin)

2) use plesk to add a user and password to the newly named directory

3) change admin in your admin/includes/configure.php wherever it appears to the new name you set in 1
