I've installed a copy of osCommerce on my webserver. I can not however register. It keeps taking me from "http://" to "https://". Why does it keep making me go secure?

Please help. I've spent about 5 hours working on this.

I'll provide any information i can. Thanks in advance.

you need to have an ssl certificate installed on your server.

if not, edit your configure.php files and set ssl to false.

The reason it keeps taking you too HTTPS:// is for some reason your server is serving out the shared SSL cert to you, not sure why this is but mine does it all the time. What i have done to get arond this is set all of the SSL settings in the configure.php to just be http:// so even if it thinks that it has an SSL cert it will still set your website to http://

Contents of configure.php

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.YOURSERVER.co.uk'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'http://www.YOUR SERVER.co.uk'); // eg, https://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('ENABLE_SSL', false); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?

define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'http://www.YOURSERVER.co.uk');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'http://www.YOURSERVER.co.uk');

define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', '/');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

Do you get what i mean, do thsi til you sort out your server and what is going on with the SSL cert

good luck!
