product images not displaying

my product images aren't being added to https:// when i am in the admin panel and add product images it only gets sent to the http folder so things look fine until you view under https when your logging in or going to checkout. anyway to fix this without manually copying the images over to the https directory?

but i do have another https question, it is saying a warning for my sertificate because it doesn't match as it was issued to my hosting company globat. any way i can fix this? thnx.

try using this for the https cookie domain

elba.globat.com/~getasianmusic.com

i dont think that is the problem, you have some other problem

yea, i don't think is it either ^^ , (i tried it just for kicks though, i'm really desperate) unfortiantitly i havn't been able to figure it out yet. all the other images work that came with install, but whenever i set new product image ect it doesn't copy it to the https path, only http

so right clicking on broken images says it is looking for the product image here

https://elba.globat.com/~getasianmusic.com/shop/images/l_p1003947384.jpg

so it's looking for it in the right place, it's just not being created there.

any reason this could happen?

wait, i checked ftp and it is acctually creating the images in the right directory, but it's searching for them at elba.globat.com/~getasianmusic.com which is weird and doesn't work.

when i switch to https.getasianmusic.com they work but i cannot register and ii'm not sure https works or not

do i need to write some kind of statement to autodetect localhost??

I am searching for an answer to the same question.

I have seen other information regarding this issue, and my understanding is limited. Maybe one of the all knowing admin types can help fill in the blanks here.

1) I think this problem arises from the fact that we use Globat as a web hosting service.

2) They do not issue separate SSL certificates, and therefore have to use the true server name in the https:// redirect. ie: https://elba.globat.com

3) They use a two folder system when they install osCommerce ( I don't fully understand the difference here).

4) We might be able to fiox this problem by copying files from the httpdocs folder to the httpsdocs folder and do this each and every time you add change the store.

Is there a thread that I have not seen that covers this issue in full? Seems to be alot of little peices in all sorts of threads. If so , sorry .

i contacted globat tech support and they couldn't bunge on the ssl thing (they said they used to allow it but it cluttered the systems), but i think somehow this is the root of the problem (and the two folder thing). hopefully an admin can fill us in on the differences.

unfortianately copying the files manually wont work because i figured out it wasnt a problem with the images not being in the correct folder, https://getasianmusic.com/shop/images/

but the fact that when going to the ssl it switches to

https://elba.globat.com/~getasianmusic.com

so while it is still looking for the latter it cant find?

at first i thought just taking out the globat portion would work and it works for the image problem but the ssl doesn't work properly (can't register or login ect.)

I don't know the answer to no 3 but if it is yes (find out from them) then the answer for no 4 is definately yes

oh hey, your right. sorry i thought i had seen the images in the https images folder but i just checked again and i guess my first hunch was correct :S. copying the images does fix the problem, so would i be able to fix it by modifying something in the admin config to make different from the http config?

You either have to copy all the images to the secure folders, or create a redirect page that the customer has to click to take them back to the http site. Had this problem with one hosting company, was not a serious issue with 20 or 30 items, but when we got over 500 to 4000 items, with 3 images each, it became a very big problem.

2 step process:

1. write the redirect page.

2, find a new hosting company when it is time to renew.

lol, i would but i havn't been able to find another hosting company that can handle the amount of bandwidth and disk space my site uses. only other option i would have would be a dedicated server it looks like and wo~expensive.

it's not uncommon for my site to turn up over 4 million hits a month.
