call for price with product listing columns

First, has anyone ever successfully installed the call for pricing mod in product_listing_col.php? The code is different than the intended product_listing.php, and I'm curious how involved the changes are.

In php, can you put "if" statements one after another? For example, will this work (first two lines)

if (PRODUCT_LIST_BUY_NOW) {

if ($listing['products_price'] == 1){

$lc_text = ' ';

} else {

$lc_text .= '<br><a href="' . tep_href_link(basename($PHP_SELF), tep_get_all_get_params(array('action', 'pName')) . 'action=buy_now&products_id=' . $listing_values['products_id'], 'NONSSL') . '">' . tep_image_button('button_buy_now.gif', TEXT_BUY . $listing_values['products_name'] . TEXT_NOW) . '</a> ';

}

Or will it need to be(first two lines):

if (PRODUCT_LIST_BUY_NOW) {

elseif ($listing['products_price'] == 1){

$lc_text = ' ';

} else {

$lc_text .= '<br><a href="' . tep_href_link(basename($PHP_SELF), tep_get_all_get_params(array('action', 'pName')) . 'action=buy_now&products_id=' . $listing_values['products_id'], 'NONSSL') . '">' . tep_image_button('button_buy_now.gif', TEXT_BUY . $listing_values['products_name'] . TEXT_NOW) . '</a> ';

}

My store is live, and I really don't want to kill it by doing this wrong...
