Basic Help

Forgive me if I am asking a silly question, but I am rather new and trying to learn as I go.

I setup the store, however I am having a hard time making midifications.

It says on the template page...

define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is a default setup of the osCommerce project...');

The text highlighted in green may be modified - it is important to keep the define() of the TEXT_MAIN keyword. To remove the text for TEXT_MAIN completely, the following example is used where only two single quote characters exist:

define('TEXT_MAIN', '');

However if I modify even 1 letter in a sentence where it said I get this error message...

Parse error: parse error in /home/httpd/vhosts/hhes.us/httpsdocs/osCommerce/includes/languages/english/index.php on line 13

Note I am going thru File Manager,

/home/httpd/vhosts/hhes.us/httpsdocs/osCommerce/includes/languages/english

Am I doing something wrong?
