Guest
I have a project that I need some assistance on. This is a paid project btw. Anyway I have a client with a static html e-commerce site that he wants me to upgrade. The OSC stuff I can handle fine, but the client wants to barcode his inventory and have his inventory tracked on the website. What I need help on is the following: 1. A way to generate and print a barcode that is tied to the merchandice. 2. Track the inventory where if a phone order is made the inventory will be deducted from the DB, likewise for internet sales 3. Have the website either be the inventory or communicate with an inventory DB 4. Simple to use system 5. Barcode scanner and printer recomedation (reasonable; doesn't have to be the cheapest but not the most expensive). He does not currently have any inventory control and his web site is the main source of sales. He needs to track and view the inventory and have the product appear as unavailable when the inventory runs out. So this is a start from sratch. The shop is windows based and my server is linux. This is a paid project so if anybody can help me tie in the inventory/barcode aspect of it I can pay. I just need the costs to be reasonable as this is a small operation. If you can help me email me: scott (nospam) fluiddragon dot com
Jeremy at oddly enough
I would think that a lot of the barcode stuff would come along witht he hardware, and you'd be able to get generic code from the manufacturer that you would need to integrate into osc. For phone orders, your customer should process using osc anyways, and just create an account for the customer, using a fictitious email address at the shop if need be, and a generic password so they'll be in the db, and all the inventory, packing slip, and invoice functions are handled by the program. (OSC will act as an inventoriable db, and perform the functions you want, if you select the proper settings in admin, and enter the numbers as you populate your db with products, though a contrib is needed to track stock that includes attributes/options). Jeremy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Really what I am looking for is someone who mayhave done this before so I don't have to re-invent the wheel so to speak. Basically I would rather pay someone for their expertise in this matter than take the time to figure it out, which would take longer and cost me more in the long term. I know this is all open source stuff, and I have used OSC before, I am just not familliar with barcoding in anyway and am looking to outsource this componet of the project, as OSC is the app I want to use for the store. Any interest would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
