Ken Wood Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Hello - hope I`m right here... I`m having problems with a contribution that I was not able to get help for solving them, so tried to think of a workaround which made me think about those two functions: "Buy Now" and "Add to Cart". So this turned into a general issue, that`s why I came here now. What is the difference between the two? Why do they actually exist? I would like to learn - but most of all I would like to know if it would be ok to only use one of them all through the shop and what the easiest way would be to "switch one of them off". I know it`s not THAT easy - otherwise there`d be button for it in the admin, but I got to get into this, so any help or information would be very nice! Thanks, Ken Wood
FalseDawn Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 AFAIK, the "buy now" button is used where there may or may not be options associated with a product. If there is, it'll direct you to the product description page where you can choose the options, otherwise it'll add the item straight to the cart. You can name the buttons whatever you want - depends how your site is structured and what options you provide for your products.

In my case (as I have installed the contribution "Product Listing with attributes" I do not get redirected to the product page as I can select the options right away from the product listing. This is also where I can select the quantity - while there is no quantity selector on the product page (at least in my version - don`t know if the contrib made this but I?d prefer to have it there too). While you say I can "name" the buttons as I like I would also like to know if I can also exchange the buttons INCLUDING their functions in any way I like. Actually I try to learn the different functions of the buttons - how do they operate? Ken
