Hi,

I'm installing osCommerce using fantastico.... anyway, I installed it so it worked on both

http://www.mydomainname.com

and

http://mydomainname.com (without the www)

anyway, I changed some of the osCommerce files and then decided to uninstall then reinstall oscommerce with fantastico...

but my problem is now, that I can access the site via

http://mydomainname.com

but NOT

http://www.mydomainname.com

(I get a "don't have permission to access database using password...." error at this address)

anyway, which directory should osCommerce be installed into ?

http_public or www ? to access using BOTH the addresses shown above?

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks.

Kenny.

Please don't click on the mydomainname link!!!!

I just used that name as an example, it takes you to some stupid commercial site.

Sorry, that site has NOTHING to do with me! :(

The uninstall may not have removed everything (like the database) and the new install is not configured properly. the site without the www may be using a cached version of the configure.php file. To find out, clear your cache and see if you get the error with both domains.

You may need to edit your configure.php files to get it to work. You will need to know how the database is set up.

On most systems the www folder is just a link to public_html so it wouldn't make any difference which you uploaded to.

Just a couple of guesses and something to try while the real gurus figure something out.
