Opening .tar files

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I need to use MultiGeoZone MultiTable Shipping from the contributions but it's not a .zip file and I don't know how to open .tar files.

I'm sure this is any easy one. :-"

Please help

Jane

If you have commandline access

tar -xvf for .tar

tar -xzvf for .tar.gz .tgz

If not find a utility that will explode the archive. download.com should point you in the right direction.

the extension should be .tar.gz and winzip should be able to open and extract gzipped (.gz), tarball (.tar), and gzipped tarball (.tar.gz) files

Brilliant, thanks for the responses!

I thought I'd used winzip previously but for some reason it didn't work last time. I'll try the other methods though, thanks

Winzip does work but the America file appears to be corrupted, I've used one of the other links fine though, who should I inform to get this updated?
