kaitlyn_nyc Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Hello All, Not sure if this question belongs in this section of the forum but is anyone out there using OpenSSL and oscommerce? If so, how is it going (is it secure enough etc...). Thanks. P.S. My webhost has OpenSSL but tells me that this is how I must implement it (and I quote) 1) must buy a dedicated IP from them, 2)You will then receive a signing request at the address given above within 12 hours.Take the signing request to the certificate supplier of your choice. Choose "Apache + MOD SSL" as the server type when they ask. Say wha??? Does this mean that the certificate supplier of my "choice" will still charge me for issuing a certificate? (sorry, I'm not this sophisticate, could someone explain in plain ol' English please) Thanks.

These can be had for cheap these days, and they are worth every penny. Here's one, but there are many more: http://www.ev1servers.net/english/starterssldetails.asp SSL certs are a very popular topic of conversation around here--do a search for more info. Guest Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 a starter ssl is just that, says you have an ssl, however they do not send to the merchant account and let them know who you really are . . . you pay for what you get

Actually I was looking for their QuickSSL page, but the links seem to be gone... But here's the page. Still reasonable at $49.00, if in fact they still offer it. :-" http://www.ev1servers.net/english/quickssldetails.asp And there are many alternatives, at many price levels.
