Security for the ADMIN directory...

Recommended Posts

Hi...

I've installed OSC now and the documentation tells me the following...

The store admin directory on your server needs to be password protected using .htaccess. Most of the time the server you are hosting your store on has the ability to password protect directories through the server administration area so check with your host.

What I know about .htaccess files, is that they are not the most secure thing to use.. That's why sometimes PHP programmers use their own deny access scripts..

My question... is there anything more secure that using .htaccess files supplied with OSC ? I am quite new to this so, I could make some dumb mistakes ... ; )

Thanks in advance..

Elex...

Elex,

You can use .htaccess, password the admin folder using your hosting control panel, or install an admin access contrib. I like Admin Access with Levels contrib.
