paypal question

I was just told by paypal that people can pay on my site with having to sign up or sign in. I would like to use paypal as my credit card gateway. Is the module installed on OSC 2.2 suitable to do this? or do I need to install a separate module for this particular task? or change code maybe?

Can someone plz help me and enlighten me on this subject?

You really need to apply one of the Paypal IPN modules

why ?

cos if a visitor makes a purchase on your site - goes to paypal and pays, but does not click on the final return to merchant button you will be notified of the purchase and payment by paypal BUT crucially you will not have your order database updated with the order details from the customer.

The paypal IPN's fix this problem by creating a temporsry order when the visitor chooses Paypal as the payment mechanism and goes off to the Paypal site - thus even if they do not retrun to your site - you will get a notification from paypal that will FIRM up the temporary order and you can then fulfill your customers order.

Which Paypal IPN module tyo use ? Look under contributions - I use the one supported by the osC team - seems like if they support it it has a better chance of becoming part of stock osC :D

Finally - purchasers no longer need to set up a payupal acount to buy thro paypal.

sigh....been working on this for like forever now... I read this thread and my settings are correct im pretty sure about it. checked all the settings more than 20 times by now. I did the test on sandbox and on the live paypal server. I get this error below

Error Detected

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The email address for the business is not present in the encrypted blob. Please contact your merchant.

Any ideas? What is an encrypted blob? how can i verify my e-mail address in the blob?

What i simply want to do is I want people having the option to go to paypal and pay without CC having to go sign up at paypal. I received this result only once at the sandbox and after i put encrypted web payments to 'false'. and after I tried it again but then it goes to the test(sandbox) server but asks for a paypal account. So the customers doesn't have an option.

Thats the only way i get it working(consumers needs to sign up before they can purchase). I dont want this! Another odd thing is that when the order has been accepted at the test server the order status didnt change right away.

I would like to get this working but been working long hours on it and becuase of 'poor' documentation on both paypal IPN and paypal developer central I do not understand my problem and I do not know what to do.

I used the paypal module that came with osc and I have no problems at all. I do not need the paypal ipn.

If you have a paypal account, log in click on merchant tools, click on auto return... second set of links in the middle of the page. make sure you select "on" put in the page you want them to go back to. I put in http://myurl.com/checkout_success.php and it sends them back to the confirmation page on my site and shows that the order has been placed and gives them the option to sign up for the notifications.

make sure you click the "on" for paypal account optional click save or whatever it is... then go to your admin area and set up the paypal module.

I haven't had a single issue with paypal since they started this stuff. =)

Good luck.
