Backorder manager?

I run a website where products go on backorder from time to time and I need a way to notify my customers that a product will not be available until a specific date. What I have been doing is just going into the product text and writing that date. But then it is tedious becuase I have to remember which products were on backorder so that I can go in and remove that text when they come back in stock. It would be awesome if there was a contribution that would manage that for me so that I could manage a list of products that were on backorder and the dates they will be in stock. so the backorder notification automatically stops displaying once that date is reached.

 

Does anyone know of any contributions that do something like this??
