osC miscalculating tax amount

when a NY customer checks out, osC (mis)calculates tax at 7.5%. For a $14.00 order, tax is $1.05. However, osc (mis)calculates it as $1.51. Okay, I go to edit the invoice, where it says "Hint: Feel free to give discounts by adding negative amounts to the list.

Fields with "0" values are deleted when updating the order (exception: shipping)." I give a "discount" of -$0.46 to reduce the amount to $15.50, but it alters the amount of tax on the $14.00 to $1.47. I try it again with a new discount to fix that, and it changes the subtotal AGAIN. Help! :'(

Check to see if your shipping method is also adding tax.

Hope that helps

No, it isn't. If the shipping method was adding tax, it would still come out ot less than the total osC gives. :'(

Just to add to your misery, you do realise that if your business is based in NY, then each different county in New York requires its own sales tax rate? There's a contribution somewhere that sets the rate by linking zip codes to county (although this is not the recomended method as quite a few zip codes span county boundaries, it's better than nothing).

see here:http://www.tax.state.ny.us/pdf/publications/sales/pub717_999.pdf

Also, NY considers the S&H charges to be a taxable service.

If you're using the Order Editor contribution, errors with tax calculations are a well-known problem. Michel Haase's solution worked for me...
