Guest Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Hi, Can anyone recommend a good SSL certificate, i'm not entirely sure what i need to be looking for as i've found some that are cheap and some that are very expensive, but don't understand what the difference would be between them. Also i've read through posts that only some files and folders need to be placed under SSL but how would i find out which ones? I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You MUST get one with 128 bit security The difference between them thereafter comes down to a) Name and brand recognition ( I won't commercialise this post with names - but some SSL vendors are better known than others - visit Amazon and see what they use - then visit joe shmoe and see what he uses - you'll soon get the idea :D ) B ) Certificate issuers have to have a certain amount of Browser ubiquity - i.e their Root Certificates must be recognised by the majority of web browsers . As most of the world and his wife surf using doze software - you might want to make sure your cert issuers Root certificate is loaded into that browser. Guest Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Most certificates provide SSL for the site, but some others such as True Business ID also verify the company as well by checking the registered name and address. They are obviously more expensive. Check out all the certificate providers then shop around as prices for the same certificate from the same company do vary alot. Your host will also be able to help you. Make sure you get a cert for the right domain also as there is a BIG difference between bluestarairlines.com and www.bluestarairlines.com.
