no emails

hey im runnin oscommerce on my own machine (using abyss webserver)... i cant send or recieve email through the site... im pretty sure its set up correctly in admin... i was just wondering do i also have to run a smtp server aswell... if so... can some1 point in the direction of a server and info

without a mail server setup locally, about the only way to do it is point to your internet email account setting
