Adding a new section to the mainpage

I'd like to have a section on the frontpage of my store that has images of at least two items from each of the categories I have. Kind of like the 'what's new section' I know it has something to do with boxes, I just can't figure out how to do it with what I read over in the oscommerce wikipages. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Look in the contributions section for Featured Products, this might do what you want.
