inserting images

I am now entering products and woudl like some of them to have images attached. I seem unable to fathom this out. To begin let me explain what I have so far done. My host provides the program and I have installed it in the public.html section of my webspace. I have not got anything installed on my computer. Is this correct so far. I have started to create the catalogue and all appears fine so far but when i want to insert the image it does not work. I have uploaded a few images into the /ocommerce/images section but cant seem to get it to show. When entering a product i am faced with a box to insert the image path and name with a browse button. I can't use the browse as the image is not on my computer and i cant get the correct path. Each time i think it might be right and i click on the preview button nothing happens.

 

I am quite new to this and so if you have the answer can you please keep it simple.

if the images are not on your computer, then you need to just place the EXACT NAME AND EXTENSION in the box. then you will need to ftp the images to your directory, then they will work. your images directory needs to be 777 permissions.

I ftp my file into the image directory then I changed the permissions in the image directory to 777 then went back into the catalogue and in the image box just typed cbs150.jpg which is the exact name and extension. I then go to the bottom and click on the preview button and nothing happened. If i take the image name back out and click on the preview button it then works and takes me to the next screen where i can update. Should I be putting more of the path in I have tried the following ocommerce/images/cbs150.jpg
