How to get a site spidered correctly?

Hello,

I remember reading a while back about how to place the main content of your page above column left and column right.

 

Currently column left on my site is getting indexed before the main content. Obviously this is less than ideal.

 

Can anyone let me know how to realign the columns or have a link where this is discussed.

I have done this and it worked very well. The description in Google used to say: "My Account | Cart Contents | Checkout Categories Shopping Cart..." A month or so after I made the change, Google shows the product descriptions.
