Product Image size

Hi,

 

My setting of the "Small Image Width and Height" is 100x100 pixels and my original photos size is 600x300 pixels, the display of the small photo under product listing will be distorted. However, if I modify the original photo to fit 100x100 pixels, I cannot enjoy the enlarge photos function as it will display the photos via using its original size.

 

What is the correct configuration given I want to use a 100x100 pixels for small photos (under product listing) and using the original photo size for the enlarge photos without distorting the display of the small product photo under product listing?

The answer is to size your original picture to the pixel size that you want the LARGE version to be, but make certina that the image (or at least the canves) is SQUARE. For example, use 288x288 for a 4" square at 72 dpi. OsCommerce will re-size if to your 100x100 setting for the thumbnail, and since both are square they will not be distorted.

 

If your actual product is not square, just make sure that the canvas (including background or transparent background) is square.
