Inner category page editing

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I sucessfully removed the "What's New for April 2005" from the /catalog/index.html page (the one below the main text, not the one in the left sidebar - want to keep that).

However, when you click on a category from that page, the "What's New for April 2005" block is still there below the main text on the category pages...how do I remove it from there?

search the index.php file, it is in there.

I removed it from the catalog/index.php. It's the inner category pages that are causing the problem...is there a separate index page that governs those?

index.php is actually 3 pages in one. Your main page when you first enter your site. The catagory main page which lists your subcatagories, and the catagory page that lists all the items in that catagory.

So the whats new is actually there twice. Look for the code you removed in a second place.

Thanks a bunch; didn't realize that. Will check.

Thanks Wendy!! It worked perfectly. I got confused and forgot that the left column is an include (or whatever the correct term is), so when I saw that new product reference twice, I thought the first was for the left column. Deleted & it worked like a charm.

Glad I could help. Index actually being 3 pages confuses a lot of people at first. =)

could you list the three index.php files that make up the main page? and a question for both of you, i was trying to remove the same thing ( not remove the new product for april just wanted to checnge what it says) however i found no reference to it in the /catalog/index.php???? or is that "What's new for April" in a diff file?

Thanks in advance

Index.php is one file with three different areas in it that make up the three different pages. It's just one file.

What's new is located in catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php

assuming you are using english if not it is in whichever language folder you are using

look for define('TABLE_HEADING_NEW_PRODUCTS', 'New Products For %s');

it is near the top.

There is also some php code inbetween these areas but that should give you a good idea on what to look for for each page index.php creates.
