Archiving Old Orders

I would like to archive the old orders (over a year, for example) into a sep. database. This is done on the discontinued Forked Project version of oscommerce, and both the customer and administrator can go in and look at their archived old orders, but all of the orders are not queried all the time during checkout, etc., so the store wont slow down after 25,000 orders or so.

 

Can someone show me how to do this, or does anyone have the code from the Forked Project?
