Problem With Shipping -- State Issue

I have a problem with my shipping module. I believe I have my countries and zones setup properly, but when I try to make an account and it asks for the address it shows:

 

First Name:

Last Name:

Street Address:

Postal Code:

City:

Country:

 

If the country is set to USA, how can I get it to have the dropdown with the state selections? And same for Canada and provinces?

Also -- the UPS mod does not seem to work. I get this error:

 

United Parcel Service United Parcel Service

We are unable to obtain a rate quote for UPS shipping.

Please contact the store if no other alternative is shown.

 

I am assuming this is because it does not know the state the item is to be shipped to?... anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I just tried installing that -- and it still does not work...

This is what it shows...

Country: * (Page will refresh when changed)

 

But when I select a country -- a "State" field never shows up.

I was looking at other osc stores and everyone else has a Text field for State where people put in their state by typing it in - instead of a dropdown. If this is easier to do -- how can I add that field? I could not seem to get the state mod to work :|

That field is present in the default installation. Have you modified create_account.php, or other files?

Yes -- I have modified some files... do you know which I would need to replace in order for it to make that field visible?... I have tried replacing create_account.php and it did not show up -- so I'm guessing it's another field?

Also -- That field is NOT default. I just installed a second copy of osc - with no changes at all ... and it STILL does not show the state field. Any suggestions?

argh - im so dumb...

 

aparently when i first installed osc i did it too fast. i disabled all of the options like company name, gender, birth date, etc, not seeing the "state" option. Now all problems fixed. thanks for the help guys.
