css or tables?

Recommended Posts

What do you guys think is the preffered approach? I've made a table based sts template for my site, but the more I think about it the more I want to have a go and do it with css.

I just want to start a discussion and see what ideas people have on the topic about accessibility etc. Also links to any css based osc sites that people have come up with would be cool.

CSS is the way to go

Allthough a simple table layout isn't that bad I think. osC ms2 probably uses all those nested tables for compatibility with ancient browsers (IE4 and NN4 ?), no need to to support those ugly browsers anymore now  .

If you decide not to fully support IE5.5 anymore, you can use IE in strict mode, and the number of CSS related browser bugs you needed to work around (even for IE6) in quirks mode, will decrease dramaticly :)
