Error message - Languages module

I just installed a cart - I ran the SQL scripts, creating the database, and I changed permissions on all the executable files, and now whenever I try to access the main catalog page or the cart's admin page, I get these kinds of errors:

Warning: main(includes/languages/.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/msaware/public_html/catalog/admin/includes/application_top.php on line 104

Warning: main(includes/languages/.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/msaware/public_html/catalog/includes/application_top.php on line 248

For some reason it's failing to properly access a language module. Since it's a new install, I'm assuming there's a file or permission that it not properly configured. The OSCom installation guide does not go into the finer details of new installations, and I'm wondering if anyone out there has any idea why I keep getting this fatal error where the language modules are concerned.

I'm still looking around, trying to see if I can identify the problem, but I'm basically lost. Arg!

check your language settings in admin.

make sure you have languages defined properly and that one of them is the default language.
