USPS Problems

Guest

Recommended Posts

I'm having trouble getting USPS to work. After reading some of the previous posts on this topic, I did the following:

-Set up USPS webtools account user name/password

-Set up USPS as the shipping module on my admin

-Called USPS and had them switch me to the production server

I still am getting the following message:

"An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations.

If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner."

Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks!

have you set your store's correct zip code?

One more question...If I only want to do Priority mail, and not parcel post, how can I eliminate that option?

Thanks.

open up the usps.php module, look for the area listed below. You can see how I have commented out some services I don't want. Read the instructions, and check the sample below.

// Domestic types in request do not match MailService elements in response. There are multiple MailServices to each type.
// We query these individually. This should make usps_method integration easier
// in the mean time, comment out the unwanted ones
     $this->types = array(
         'Express' => 'Express Mail',
    	 'First Class' => 'First Class Mail',
    	 'Priority' => 'Priority Mail',
    	 'Parcel' => 'Parcel Post',
//     	 'BPM' => 'Bound Printed Matter',
//     	 'Library' => 'Library Mail',
//     	 'Media' => 'Media Mail'
    	 );

Where do I find the file "usps.php" in the file manager? I can't seem to find it.

Also, if I decide to install the contribution instead, do I start from the bottom and then install each individual update one at a time?

Thanks!

DONT USE THE FILE MANAGER...it invariably leads to parse errors.

edit your file locally then ftp them to your site. Create backups first (in case mistakes are made)

catalog/includes/modules/shipping/usps.php

I had upgraded the usps module to this contribution

Changing files through file manager in the Admin panel has caused some problems. It is best to do the file in a text editor then use your ftp program to upload the changed file. The module is placed in catalog/includes/modules/shipping
