dropdown category in header

Howdy,

 

I'm trying to have a dropdown list for my categories in the header. Basicly I have two main categories I want to be able to look in. Example:

 

Wood Type

- Rough

- Sanded

- Panel

 

Wood Grain

- Oak

- Maple

- Cherry

 

Has anyone made a contribution that you can have drop down boxes populate from the database and allow for two categories to be searched. Say if someone comes to my site and wants to see All Wood Types.. So they don't choose a wood type and in the second drop down they choose Oak. After they hit submit it displays all the Wood Types with just Oak from Wood Grain. Same if someone picked Rough and Cherry.. would only show all Rough and Cherry types of wood, If they didn't choose anything it would show them all ...etc etc. I looked all over the site and couldnt' really find anything close to this. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

There are various drop-down category Contributions. They will offer the main category in the header, and the sub-categories as drop-downs below them. However, none of them do what you want to do.

 

In fact the only drop-downs I know of that might do that are ones based on FORM commands, and they all have one thing in common - they look terrible.

Thanks for the reply Vger, terrible or not I'm willing to give them a shot. I've found the one that lists out the main cats and had to remove the OnChange as it wouldn't allow them to use the other dropdown. What I'm at a loss now is to get the search to pickup BOTH dropdown variables and submit them. Any ideas?
