Ok, on the front page there is some text that says welcome user ETC. I have changed my background to black but the text color is black so the affect is the text can not be seen.

I have edited what i think is the correct .css files and there seems to be know change. Does anyone know what might be going on and what class that text is.

FYI.

I edited main and smalltext.

Go to

[path to catalog]/includes/languages/english/index.php

The text is set in the following manner:

define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is a default setup of the osCommerce project...');

The text highlighted in green may be modified - it is important to keep the define() of the TEXT_MAIN keyword. To remove the text for TEXT_MAIN completely, the following example is used where only two single quote characters exist:

define('TEXT_MAIN', '');

Edit the text there using a text editor (do not use file manager). USe HTML tags to change font sizes and colors.

Backup files BEFORE making changes...................

There are also a couple of contributions that allow you to edit the main page through the admin panel and they are pretty easy to instal.

Other text showing up on yoursite (the majority of ot anyhow) is located in your language folder. Either in the main language php file or in the particular folder on the specific pages php file.

The "Welcome, Guest..." text is using the .main class in the stylesheet.css file. If you've changed this and still not seeing a change, refresh the page after clearing your cache (holding control down and refresh should work, as well). If it still doesn't show the changes, check the page source to make sure the style class is being called there, and correctly.
