Sending out Emails??

Recommended Posts

I have been trying out everything for my store, but i found that when I order a product, it doesnt send an email to me notifying me of the order, or the email address that purchased it.

My Email Options are as follows:

Email Transport Method: smtp

Email Linefeeds: CRLF

MIME HTML: false

Verify Through DNS: false

Send Emails: true

Does anyone know why it is not sending them out? Please let me know. Thanks!

First question:

1. Is this a local install for testing purposes? If so,you won't have a mail server to send anything out.

2. If it is a working online website - do you have an SMTP service - not all hosting plans provide this.

3. Have you tried using sendmail instead of smtp?

I used to have the same problem ...

it might also be something else alltogether...just check...

and after a long trial and error .. it all came down to this:

If you are not sure about the test-enviroment ...

(like running appache...from home... computer ...ectect)

You are probally ..UPLOADING ..through FTP..right..?

then you have webspace with a provider.

in this case i'll assume you have a provider.

example...

Your regular email address is [email protected]

at www.provider.com ..this is where you upload you site ...

you wont see the name...provider..buit rather your own domain name...

www.mystore.com ...

The STORE email... is set to [email protected]

Log in to your provider... AND make an email ALLIAS... of [email protected]...

as extra email ... called [email protected] direct it to ALSO be delivered..to [email protected]

Now when you send an email from the shop....OsCommerce...mail.php

it sends it to ... [email protected]..(actually ...the provider not your)

Who now recognises the email .. and know that it has to 'forward' it ..to your ..

inbox....

Weird story ... having trouble explaining... but... log into your provider ...on their WEBSITE with the acces codes they gave you (to upload your site...) and go-to...myaccount (*or whatever they call it) ... Check Email...and alliasses...

If your SHOP email adrres...can not befound anywhere ..just you're regular email adress... create an extra emailadress....

Also you might already have the email adres... (if you had those guys install the site for you) however it's up to you to say ... where it should go ... be delivered.

Also .. you might ,.. just not have your outlook ...(whatever you use) set up to even receive the email ..from your website provider...

especially when you still use an older email ..and just recently ..got webspace (hosting) for your oscommerce site... then you probally got the space it elsewhere

.. So you'll need to create and account .. in outlook or communicator/ ...

Again you should be able to use the login codes they gave you... to set up the account.

Oh ...when logged in to your provider...you'll probaly see a whole list of the emails you never got!

If non of the above... ???

contact your provider... and ask .. what's up with email... they will be able to see if your account . is setup correctly ..so you know ..where the problem is ... either oscommerce .. faulty installation... or insufficiient email account info...

Did you update the site recently ...added a module ..(html whysiwyg) ...

brand new installation? ..

If you added ...or were BROWSING through the files and code of the website ... with your html editor... trying to find the fault... check all files again ... i have bneen experiencing some trouble ..with allaire's-homesite editor... if a time out occures and get booted all files i did not save ... end up BLANK...on the server side ... and have to re-upload the blank files from a backup.

You might have a Blank MAIL.php..or a crucial include(...)

You'll have to check ...

Hope it helps ...

I've been having issues with getting the emails of orders as well. The only workaround so far I have found is to have an extra email also sent to my hotmail account, because for some reason they are not getting through via my provider. I have checked all spam detection and made sure it was off and still nothing. So as I mentioned this was just my workaround. I'd like to figure out a True solution too.
