mikotondria
Hi, After a very successful installation and some heavy modding of OS 2.2, I went to add a password protect to the admin/ directory, using a standard 'Directory Protect' set up on the server. However, when this password protection is in place, the modules section of the admin doesnt work, nor does my footer, which I modded to show the number of people online.. Does anyone have a work-round or simple solution to password protect the admin area. I am thinking I could use some JS in frames that detects if the page being accessed is not in the parent frame (which I pwd protect), then meta-refresh back to a 'you are not authorised' page, but this isnt really very secure. I could certainly hack it. Any general or specfic advice that could help me achieve what I need ? Many thanks, Mike.
RikR
I used my host's cPanel to set a passord on my admin directory. It works fine. Rik Rasmussen
mikotondria
Hey thanks for your your response :).... Yeah, thats what I had implemented, but there in my modding, it caused the malfunction of the admin/modules section (I am using the latest version of the authorize.net mod), even when the user was logged correctly. Any other methods that could be effective anyone uses or can suggest ? Thanks each, Mike.
mikotondria
I was just wondering if anyone had any further advice on protexting the admin area at all ? I am interested in solutions that dont necessarily involve the standard solution of protecting the directory on my server using eg Plesk or cPanel ? Many thanks in advance. Mike. RikR
I can not see how a mod would keep you from doing a simple password protection of the admin directory. Rik Rasmussen
