Downloads Configuration

I am having a lot of trouble configuring this.

I installed osCommerce, read the supporting documentation and followed the instructions to the T. I downloaded and installed the Downloads contribution, ran the queries on the database and I can see the commands in the menu.

However, when the order is complete (using Authorize.net in test mode) the download page does not appear. The page defaults back to the main log-in page.

I am unclear about what is going on here. Ideas?

Perhaps I should ask this another way;

I have installed and enable downloads. However, I can not really see in the code why, when I click on checkout (after setting the price now to 0.00 and the shipping to free) there is no download.

The directories pub/ (CHMOD 777) and download/ ( CHMOD 755) seem to be fine. The file in the download directory. The path to the file is (chosen in product attributes) is the name of the file only - no directory (bugslife_guide.pdf). I even checked out with paypal - still no file.

The PHP is a little confusing ... I just need some general guidance here, I am not without some knowledge.

Thanks!

I know this is all volunteer but I have to got to either find a solution or find a new shopping cart... Is there a paid support service somewhere?

I hate to sound desperate, but I am.

Thanks again!

Okay, I switched the cart to Zen cart which looks like it was built on the same source code, and now I see what you mean.

Wow, there needs to be some better documentation concerning the downloads - it was really confusing - perhaps some better examples in the cart?

Just a suggestion.

Thanks!

I agree. I can not make my downloads work either....What is "order status to updated"? My order status was set to "delivered" after payment...Should it be something else?

YES! The downloads module gives each order status a number, then says that downloads can only occur if that number is less than a certain amount. For example, downloads can only occur if the number is <=2, but the order status "delivered"=3. 3 is greater than 2, so no download can occur. After payment is confirmed, your order status should go to "processing". The "updated" option is in Admin so that you can change the status back & allow another download for a customer if something went wrong the first time.

Go to Admin --> Localization --> Orders Status. Yours probably says Delivered (Default). Click on Processing & make it the default instead, and see if this helps. While you are there, make sure you have an "updated" option. If not, you missed something in the installation.

hello, I'm having trouble as well with the automatic downloads. I'm selling digital images on my website and my plan is to after they purchase the picture they can download the full size high resolution picture. Unfortunately, I don't know how to configure that in OS commerce. Please can someone help. Pretty desperate here.

Thank you,

Javy
