Guest Posted February 28, 2005 Share Posted February 28, 2005 If anyone thinks they know the answer to this please get in touch, I have installed the ultimate SEO contribution by Chemo which works great for short url's but when I modify the htaccess file to include the rewrite code it causes a 500 server error when any page using ssl is called on my site, this means customers cant log in or place any orders!! Guest Posted February 28, 2005 Share Posted February 28, 2005 not really knowing anything, i would first wonder if my host supports mod_rewrite.if they don't, would trying to use mod_rewrite in the .htaccess cause a server error? if they do, did you structure your rewrite condition correctly? one little * or ^ in the wrong place could render your website inaccessable. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi I contacted my host and they even tried installing it but they said they think its something to do with the code, they rebooted the server too. The mod_rewrite works fine all over the site its only when a page using ssl is loaded that the 500 server error apears, so its like my account and checkout cant be used when the htaccess file has the rewrite code inserted. I've checked the code its definately correct, if someone how knows what they are doing whats to have a go or wnats me to paste my htaccess file let me know. Bobby <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Bobby my provider had a go but they couldnt get it to owrk either, they said they thought it was something to do with the code I was using in the htaccess file, but they didnt know for certain. I use ssl for accounts and checkout, when http changes to https in the url the server error happens, runing out of ideas becuase I cany fix it and my providers cant fix it, would anyone on here like a go I have no problem sending account and password via pm.
