hivtop
It's not the script... I have it running on 5 different web sites with little time used to install it... Try reading the Docs... 99% of your questions will be answered there.. If all else fails send me a mail and I will help after you read the docs. Guest
I have spent the past 3 days trying to configure this stupid thing. I tried to install this script a year ago, posted messages on the board, and got programmers language replies. I AM NOT A PROGRAMMER!!! Got frustrated with it then and the frustration level only increases a year later when I tried this stupid script yet again. I HAVE read the documentation and the help files as well as spent hours searching this board for the answers. So may professionals and novices answering everyone's questions EXCEPT MINE! I repost, add replies to get my post to the top so SOMEONE will look and answer it, yet......... <sighs> I am NOT a stupid woman. I can configure shelf CGI script till the cows come home with NO PROBLEMS. Yet on this script, each time I add products and categories, no pages appear. Did I get an answer to that question on this board (other than my own)? NO. I tried to modify the main page and each time that I do, A BLANK PAGE APPEARS! It seems to me that even tho PHP is the HOT NEW PROGRAM it still lacks the fine tuning that has been done to the old established programming of CGI. I am tired of fucking with this script, this board and it's lack of help (yours has been the ONLY response to ANY of my posts I think. Sad that I have to swear to get someone to notice my post, isn't it?), digging through hundreds of documentation files, etc. I already have a great cart on my store which works quite well. The only reason I was going to switch over to a PHP driven script is to incorporate my affiliate program to it. I find that it is NOT worth the hassle with THIS PARTICULAR SCRIPT. Piece of shit. I can get Larry Wager's CommerceSQL script and get MUCH better responses from him and the community. It might cost me $50 to join the members area for the modules and extras but from my experience with his Commerce CGI script it is WELL WORTH THE COST. Guest
Well I have to say that if I came across as aggressive as you do and simply plain rude then I am not entirely surprised that no one WANTS to help you , even if they could. Simply because you dont understand something, doesnt make it crap. I personally do not understand 90% of this php oscommerce but by a bit of PATIENCE, readings, understanding and asking polite but succinct questions I have managed to set up more than 4 of these shops and slowly am getting to grips with it all. If it were me I would stop, leave it til tommorrow then delete it all and start afresh sometimes that is the best way of getting something working . jeffers
I to am no programmer but I have found this software extremely EASY to install and modify. With good use of the search it has always found any answers I needed. The trouble with most things people want to run before you can walk, take things at one at a time. Install onto server make sure that it installed correctly and is working. Then attempt to edit the front page. A quick search found this answer for me ,but what got me confused at 1st was the use of the ' and . in PHP especially when the ' was part of my intro on the front page. Then add some products. Play around with the settings, to see what happens. It won't be long before you can then attempt to set up a shop properly. If you don't like this software why rant and rave about it just delete it off of your computer (You do know how to do that) and go on to something else.
