Paypal Payment Problem..

Recommended Posts

Hi All.. Been having some strange problems recently with the Paypal payment service..

It's been set-up the same now for about 6 months and working fine. The last month has been a pain! missed payments, meaning i have to chase the customer for a Maual "Send money" payment  - the funny thing is, when i go through the checkout it all works fine for me?! even on a different browser so this is whats making it so hard to fix!

I don't even know what is happening to the payments which is the annoying thing :'(

Is it just me with this problem or have allot of others go this as well ??

Can anyone help me or offer me some advice ?

the site in question is www.componentsuk.co.uk

Is the order showing up in your admin orders?

PayPal has been having problems returning IPNs, but the PAY function has been working ok.

You know, I've been seeing the same thing.

I think it is because before installing IPN, we never knew if someone went to the PayPal site but then decided not to place the order. Now if they get to the "Confirm Order" page it logs it as Preparing IPN like it is supposed to, in case we don't get the IPN return.

So we are getting a lot of people, maybe 50% now, that do not complete the order for whatever reason I have no idea. I did get a response from one person who was confused about the PayPal site. After giving him instructions, he completed the order.

Are the rest of you seeing a lot of Preparing IPN's hanging there?

Is this normal for customers to bail out upon seeing PayPal?

I wish it was possible to transfer directly to the second PayPal page for new users, where all the info has been transferred in to and then current users could at that point log in making the default a new user.

I think some customers assume they will have to open a PayPal account. They stop at that point. In fact, they can pay with a credit card and not open an account. I don't think PayPal makes this clear enough, they want to encourge people to open PayPal accounts.
