Having problems with install

I am having a very wierd problem.I just downloaded oscommerce two days ago, unzipped and copied everything into a folder on my ftp.It worked great and I was enjoying getting the site setup.

The problem came after I decided to screw with some of the code.On the admin page, there is a button for define_language .I was trying to get rid of some of the test on the front page,so modifed the index file under define_language,and the site stopped working, and I couldnt get it back to normal.

I tried re-installing the oscommerce software. After the setup was complete,I hit the admin configuration tab,and a bad link came up. After messing with this for awhile,I decided I'd delete mysql database and start a whole new one, deleted the folder in my ftp where everything was being stored and delted oscommerce software from my computer. Downloaded and unzipped everything, started a new folder and installed unzipped oscommerce catalog.

The problem is,any link/button I click sends me to a bad link, and when I read the address bar,it seems that It has two of the main page directory along with the directory for where Im trying to go.If I delete the 2nd,the correct page will show up,but no images or background shows up.

Say if my site were www.oscommerce.net/catalog ... Im on the admin main page, I click the configuration button and this comes up....

www.oscommerce.net/catalog/admin/://www.oscommerce.net/catalog/admin/configuration.php?selected_box=configuration&gID=1&osCAdminID=60e524e5447002f482597072ec75d448]http://www.oscommerce.net/catalog/admin/:/...2597072ec75d448

it does the double thing for any link i press...so I cant modify anything without having to do this over and over..pllus,no images or background showup on my page.

Any clue?

Got it fixed finally!!

I deleted everything again..started a new mysql, downloaded oscommerce, but went with the england mirror,as that was the first one to work, america mirror didnt work for me.

...Started a new catalog folder etc...

Do not edit your files using the file manager in the osC admin. Very buggy and will give you problems. Edit your files locally and then ftp them back to the servr.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
