Unvolontary merge with other Osc shop

Now we need someone really good at Osc.

I am setting up a Osc shop using Ipowerweb as host.

Step by step the shop evolves.

However today I got a different shop articles in my categories list.

They have the same problem with my articles in their categories list.

I have checked my 2 configure.php files and all adresses point to me.

I called up Ipowerweb and they claim it is a programming isue.

Ok, folks, My webshop (still under construction) is: www.tokyotoys.biz

and the interfering webshop is: http://aestechnologies.net/store/index.php

I recently moved the shop from .biz/ecommerce/os/catalog/index.php

to the root without catalog ie, www.tokyotoys.biz/index.php

I am not shure if that has something to do with it.

For secure operations we both connect to Ipowers host196.ipower.com/~xxxxxx

(xxxxxx is different for my shop and aestech.)

This is a major problem for both of us and we really need professional help.

I got Msn-messenger [email protected] if someone would like to guide me through the settings.

I still believe that the problem resides at Ipower.

Regards

Crazypilot :'(

Try turning the cache feature off (false) in your admin section. If the directory is set to /tmp and you are on a shared host you could be mixing things up. You really only need caching for large categories/products.

Also, check if store sessions are set to 'mysql' in BOTH configure.php files.

Hi Tom and thanks for the help.

I turned the cache off and cleared the cache files (/tmp).

Now it seems to be working again :D

The other shop left Ipower for another host.

I checked the configure and store sessions are set to empty (default handler),

do you recommend to insert 'mysql' instead.

For my info, what is the benefit of that?

Is this a common problem for shared hosting?

If it is, I probably can stay at Ipower.

Thanks again,

You can use the cache on a shared server you just need to change where they are stored so the location is under your domain and not somewhere that is shared by others on the server.

I always set sesions to mysql on a shared server. Again you can decide where to save the sessions but this way seems easier and safer.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your info.

As I understand I only need the cache if I have lots of products and then I better

put the /tmp in one of my own folders.

Also to improve security it's better to set sessions to Mysql than using default

(none) value.

I do not really understand why, but I guess it's better to store the sessions on my own password protected Mysql-database than using shared server space, right?

Thanks all for super support.

A few weeks ago I regarded Osc as undefeatable Hydra, but now I'm starting to enjoy the ride. I gonna make this Hydra do every wich of mine :D

if you set sessions to null it defaults to a shared directory where the world writes to on a share server.

if you set it mysql you are using you personal database where only your sessions are stored.

LOL Crazy... Yessir, I up and closed my webhosting services. Had them over a year. Apparently, they are great for just hosting html, flash and the like, but when you throw queries in and someone else is pulling your database info, you just can't promise your customers secure data. So I left them for netfirms immediately. Should be this weekend before my new DNS populates.

As from the e-mails we sent back and forth, thank you for initially notifying me of this issue. I hope everyone in this community would immediately contact somebody if they seen such a security breach.

Once again, it was nothing wrong with you c.p. It was actually ok because I was going to transfer my host provider in May. This just sped up the process to do so immeditately.

No problem Joseph,

Just one question.

Did you use caching to the /tmp file and did you save the sessions in your Mysql base or did you have the default "" option?

It make me sleep better if you answer: yes, no, yes.

Regards Crazy
