Hi Guys,

For my new store I am looking to take card payments and process them offline, there are so many different contribs on the go for taking credit/debit card payments I am totally unsure which one to use.

What would you guys advise?

Thanks

Sorry I should have been more specific in what I need.

What I need in terms of credit card collection data are these

Name: * a required field*

Card Number: * a required field*

Expiration Date: (two drop down fields, one for month+one for year) * a required field*

Valid From: (two drop down fields, one for month+one for year)

Issue Number:

CVV Security Code: * a required field*

Does anyone know of a contrib like this or is anyone willing to help me build a contrib like this?

I know it sounds like a hell of a job but can it be really that hard to do?

Thanks

Mark

suggest you start the other way round.

Work out who will be your Merchant Account provider and who will be your payment services gateway (based on costs) and then you can find out which contrib supports it.

If you are UK then checkout the protx solution (google protx). Its very competitive.

Chris,

I already use worldpay on one of my sites but I am a bit tight when it comes to shelling out for another account with them.

I am going to process orders manually on the new site to see if there is much difference in processing costs.

As far as protx go I started a thread about this under 'General Chit Chat' .

Just to let you know I had a quote from Barclaycard Merchant Services and they are even more expensive than worldpay, check out these costs for processing internet payments

Setup Fee ?250

Running costs ?25 per month

Debit Card charges 2%+35p

Credit Card charges 7.14%

compared to using a terminal offline

Setup Fee ?250

EPDQ machine ?13 per month

Debit Card charges 0.35p

Credit Card charges 5.14%

Also they said they will require me to pay an upfront retainer in case of chargebacks.

I am now waiting for a quote from streamline but I am not holding my breath!

Hi Mark,

I'm just in the process of going live with Netbanx.

I will be using a bureau account to start with so charges are about 8% per transation whatever card. If I decide to get my own merchant account if things work out ok then it's 4%.

Minimum charge is only GBP 10.00 per month and the one off set up and integration fee to oscommerce in GBP 150 plus VAT

All this said I have to actually use it live yet but I don't see any major problems looming (famous last words !!)

Regards

Pete

Interesting stuff.

My colleague had similar figures from Barclays (today funnily enough)- we were equally surprised by the ridiculous charges (inflated for startup small business), but he thinks he had better from Lloyds. We also will be checking with Streamline tomorrow, and getting accurate figures from Lloyds.

Perhaps you could post any new cost findings here for all - there is not much info on this for other folk so let's share what we find. I will also be happy to share what I find.

Regarding the original question I wonder if off line credit card module is integrated already. Have you checked in Admin>Modules ? You can activate the Credit Card module - I'm still finding my feet but is that what you need? I guess it uses the validation data built into osC (cc_validation class).

Hi Chris,

Yes lets share what we find as this subject is a total mine field!

Regarding the credit card module that comes as standard with osc it is too basic for my needs, I really need it to be like I described so as to cover my back when processing offline transactions.

For those who missed it this is what I need

Name: * a required field*

Card Number: * a required field*

Expiration Date: (two drop down fields, one for month+one for year) * a required field*

If it doesn't do that the what does it do ?!! - (retorical question!).

Today's phone notes:

Based on ?25 average item price and estimated 100k 1st year t/o.

To support 100k p.a = 333 transactions a month at ?25

Low risk so better fees.

STREAMLINE:

?250 arrangment fee

3% credit card - personal

3.8% credit card - business card

Minimum monthly charge = ?15 i.e. (3% x ?500 = 20 Transactions p.m)

Payment settlement within 3/4 days

Total trading cost = ?420 p.a (?670 first year) minimum (includes ?20 pm for psp e.g. protx).

Question: If forecast was say ?50k per annum (166 tx's month) would charges stay same?

Require usual Credit check details, Takes 2-3 weeks to set up.

bank account

2 directors

lived in home adress

Note: They ask for Trading name but can give Ltd Co. Name for many diff trading names to operate.

12 months cost model analysis and review after 12 months trading and reduction in charges possible.

================================================================================

=

BUREAU COSTS: (Note Worldpay/worlddirect is owned by Streamline)

World Direct (i.e. World pay as the merchant provider - no bank required)

?200 join

?30 pm management fee - 6 months (up front = ?180)

4.5% all c/c transactions

50p debit cards

+ possible deferrment for risk (e.g. hold funds for 30 days)

Use World Pay as psp only

?200 join

?30 pm management fee - 6 months (up front = ?180)

1% c/c transaction + 3% from M/acc provider e.g. Streamline = 4% total

13p debit

=======================================================

if customer is registerred for

verisgn - visa

mc - securecard

then this should be used for transaction security - Ptox provide this

=======================================================

Cards that can Be accepted by Streamline

Mastercard osc - failed, changed cc_type to 'MC' - tested ok

Meastro osc - not yet implemented, no cc_type in contrib

Visa osc - Protx tested ok

Visa delta osc - Protx tested ok

Visa electron osc - not yet looked at, no cc_type in contrib

switch is gone - now Meastro, osc - need to remove or change to Meastro?

Solo - normally on savings a/c and students osc - Not looked at yet

JCB - Japanese osc - Not looked at yet

American Express: osc - Protx tested ok

NB: "option to take amex" - seperate agreement with amex? Do Protx do this? Need to ask psp for advice on this one - may involve additional charge, or may have changed now.

Hi Mark,

Does your terminal provider allow this?

I ask as we have a Streamline terminal and we process payments offline, but reading through the instructions it seems we shouldn't be using 'cardholder not present' for internet orders.

I take it back, I chanced speaking to them and they seemed unconcerned.

Hi,

I had completely forgotton about this thread lol!

I am now using HSBC and to process orders manually I will be using their virtual terminal.

It gives me all the same checks that the esecure payments does.

In regards to the which credit card contrib, I gave up and got someone to code a new one from scratch for me. So far this is what it looks like

ssshot.jpg

Unfortunately I will not be releasing this as a contrib but I will let you know who coded it if you pm me.

Also it is not 100% working yet, still ironing out the last few bugs in the checkout but hopefully will be live very soon.
