robax_
Hi all, I've just installed version 2.2 on Windows Server 2003 at my webhost. It insalls ok, but I have to enter my database server details into two seperate configure.php. Which one of these is the correct one.. why two? Also, why does the site display as it does http://www.cameraworx.com/catalog/ The admin pages tell me the folder catalog/images doesn't exist.. yet it does. there are many other confusing issues like how do I rename the admin folder like it says I have to.. when I rename it all the links don't work. On that note, the links on the homepage don't work anyway.. why do they have the wrong addresses in them? I have not made any further configuration changesd because the installation dopc doesnt mention anything else. This is all getting a bit messy. I've searched this forum extensively this evening. Thanks for any info.. Rob

Rob <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One configure is for the public cart - the other is for your private admin - they both have to be configured (forgive the pun) correctly in order to set your store up correctly both front and back. It might help if you post your configure files so we can see what you have put in them 0 but of course do not post cnfidential database info at the bottom of each file :D Renaming and protecting the admin folder is a basic necessity else you leave your back office open to attack by people who might not have your business success at heart  essentially you will have to rename the directory to a new name only you know - newname - then you will have to use newname in the configure.php files so they reference the correct new name - then you will have to add folder protection in the form of user and password for the directory and finally you should also chmod the permissions ojn the folder to something like 644 or 444 hth Charles A kite flies highest AGAINST the wind ! robax_
Ok thanks for getting me off the ground again Charles. After another few hours of trial and error and lots of reading, I finally appear to have it all working. I have to say, the documentation for this tool is sorely lacking. The couple of lines in the readme about uploading and doing something with a config file isn't even close to getting it up and running. The installation wizard thing doesn't appear to be of any use at all other than setting up the db tables. In the end it actually takes inserting all sorts of data into three different config files, one of which is hiding in the extras folder in the zip. Someone invovled in developing this is going to have to properly document how to set this up on IIS. There are many problems, all of them with apparently simple answers and none of which are due to IIS or Windows. If anyone wants help setting theirs up, twist my arm and I'll write up what I know. Thanks Rob
Guest
No images at all....among other things Hello. I have the same problem you had, no images showing afte I copied all the folders to my webhotell. The databaseconnection is Ok, and everything is working, but I cannot see any pictures on the site. Everything was ok at my local Apache-server I tried first to set up the web without the Catalog-folder, (in the root) with no luck. Then I tried with all the files in the Catalog (like it was on my local server) but I cannot see pictures, exept those in this url http://www.itbshop.no/catalog/includes/lan...on_continue.gif How did you solve your problems ? It was wrong CHMOD to the images folder. :D Now I can see picture and everything looks OK in the "user part" , but when I log in as admin, there are several problems like download, pay-module, shipping and more. What CHMOD do I have to use on the different folders. ? Does anybody have a "list" over the different folders , regardig the right settings?

Guest
777 are file permissions. sometimes people have directories underneath images and in order to write to them they need to have 777 file permisisons
