nickpan
Hi everyone. This is my first attempt at building an online store. It can be found at http://www.longbath.com. Do give me your comments and feedback.
TerryK
Color scheme is nice, but with the breadcrumb bar not running the width of the page, and the backgrounded category headers over white background, it looks like it's somewhat disjointed to me -- almost as if the layout is broken, though I don't think it is assuming what I think it is you're trying to achieve. You can comment out the Languages and Currencies info boxes as you've only got one choice for each -- unless you plan on introducing other currencies. Check the 'Documentation' link for how to do that if you don't know. The picture in your 'Designer Bath Tubs' box is a little off too, with the bottom of the tub cut off. Why not show the whole thing? radders
Cool domain name! Makes me think of soaking in a tub with candles around - maybe. It is coming along nicely (viewed on Firefox). The thumbnail images don't look very appealing. I think is is the dark surround on the white page. It makes the shop look a bit stark. I can see why you went for white. Oddly enough the fullsize images look good. Clearly ythere is a lot if information still to be loaded. You can get rid of the date the products were added. Why don't you display the rtails prices next to your wholesale prices fo comparison rather than just showing that extra 20% off. I think there is a contribution for this. I notice you ask for date of birth (in the American format). Perhap you could drop this requirement. It will certainly confuse your UK customers. dakatone
I absolutely LOVE your business! Custom bath tubs at lengths that truly inspire, well, long baths! You have exceptional products and your site is getting there! I like the color scheme as well, and the blue color of the main ad just jumps and fits your site and scheme. 1. I would get rid of the "Welcome" comement. It is so general it does not play to par with the rest of your site. 2. Kill the request and date calls in footer as well. Leave the horizontal design, just do not put anything in it and directly beneath it add the typical footer links (i.e. Home | Products | About Us) 3. Obviously get your Conditions and Shipping information up. Add an About Us page. Great job on the Contact Us page and Privacy Policy. 4. Design-wise, it is great. However, and there is always a however, I would possibly tie it all off by completing the boxed in infoBoxes. You have nice and neat horizontal lines, make vertical ones closing the headers in and making them look finished. 5. Kill Manufacturers infoBox, no need for it. 6. Kill Languages infoBox, also no need for it. And as a tip for languages (this goes for everyone), DON'T DO IT! You will always offend someone and they will never come back. If you want a translation, pay a human to correctly translate it instead of using PHP. You end up with at best 75% of the site translated, while images and other key informational areas are left untranslated. Basically it ends up looking like it was run through Babel or FreeTranslation.com. (Ok, I know that had no relevancy on your site, but hopefully it helps some) 7. I love your header text, the text that is present on each product's page and also the information and account pages. It looks clean and presentable and is pleasantly oversized. Hope this helps and best of luck! Ruhl
moonlitsun
Adding to the other comments, the coloring you used for borders and the header are very clean and appropriate. Nice job. "Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?" ....I'd remove or alter this and make it more unique. Otherwise, it feels like every other standard osC site installation. No need for the languages infobox. Buttons look good, and your icon replacements are GREAT. :) Carpe Carp: Seize the Fish. Wendy James
I like it and will bookmark the site. lol I will be shopping for a tub pretty soon. =) With that said, I do agree with the others, ditch the boxes you don't need and I would suggest something other than blue for the links atleast that shade of blue. Your site is so calming using the grays but then the blue is kind of bright. Kinds of distracting to me. Wendy James Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. babylea
i love the simplicity of the home page, maybe just link the image to enter the store or add some small enter text to the image as i think the standard text enter link ruins the effect but that's just imho. viewing in firefox the main page seems slightly aligned to the right compared to the heading, agree with the others about the language and currencies boxes and if you won't be adding any more manufacturers then you can do away with the manufacturers and manufacturers info boxes too. Also these are very small suggestions but I think they will tie the whole site together.... the custom buttons you have added are great, as the add to cart one has been with replaced with an add to basket one you may want to change the 'cart contents' on your header navigation bar to 'basket contents' and also the title of your 'shopping cart' box to 'shopping basket' when you hover over the arrow in your box headers the alt text show as 'ICON_ARROW_RIGHT_ALT' you could also change the links so that they don't appear as basic blue underlined, this can be done in your stylesheet. MysticBlues
From a customer's viewpoint only... I would not spend $900.00 on a bath tub with only one photo and virtually only minor description of product. ie: Acrylic Freestanding Oval Bath Dimension: 1750 x 750 x 610 mm Tell me what makes that tub special.... Also especially with larger items I would expect shipping costs to be high and I want to have some idea what those costs are going to be before I add it to my cart. Just my two cents -- nice business idea and huge potential for success I would imagine :) GL
