Guest
<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I too am having difficulty with this. I tried looking at the forums but it seems very complicated. It would be nice if somebody came up with a "setting up paypal with oscommerce for dummies" document. Any help greatly appreciated francol
♥Vger
All you have to do is to go to your osCommerce 'admin' panel, go to Modules, Payment and install the PayPal module. You just enter your e-mail address (the one registered with PayPal), and it's done. Nothing complicated. It only becomes complicated if you try to use PayPal buttons when it's not necessary as osCommerce already does the handling of transaction for you. If you want full ssl then you have to pay to get it, but most hosting companies provide use of a shared ssl as part of their hosting package. Guest
HI, Paypal uses the padlock feature which i think is SSL Security! All i want is paypal to handle all login / payment info but have the shop setup in OScommerces format as this is very simple! So that when people pay they see the padlock as this is standard on all paypal payments and OScommerce only holds the logon details but not the credit card stuff! SORRY to be a pain!!! Thanx All you have to do is to go to your osCommerce 'admin' panel, go to Modules, Payment and install the PayPal module. Guest
Follow up to the previous thread ====================== So in summary 1) ppl buy products and they use OScommerce's shopping cart! 2) when they are ready to check out then they go to paypals page! 2a) ALL PRODUCTS PLUS TOTAL ARE SENT TO PAYPAL 3) Paypal uses there login page plus registration page and lets them checkout - which is secure 4) the product is paid via paypal and then its upto me to provide the product BUT PAYPAL lists the products they purchased to me so i know what i need to give 5) disabling the "create account" for OScommerce as all orders are handled via paypal SORRY to be a pain!!! Thanx
♥Vger
If you just disable 'Create An Account' then your website won't work. It works like this: People come to your site and select something they want to buy. They start to checkout and are required to set up an account After this they can continue to checkout, and get sent to paypal. PayPal processes the transaction and sends the details back to your site. You get notified of the payment via PayPal, and of the order via osCommerce. If you want to do it differently then you'll have to install a Contribution which allows people to checkout without registering. Vger
Guest
The "Padlock Feature" is SSL 128 bit Securty but the part of the transaction in osC is not secure unless your server is secure. Most companies do proivied a shared SSL key.
RikR
The SSL on the PayPal site protects your customer when they submit information to PayPal. if you have SSL on your site, it protects your customer when they submit information to your web site. Neither of these protects YOU when your web site sends information on your customer's transaction to Paypal, or PayPal' send a response to you. It is at this point that you could be hacked and scammed. The osCPayPal IPN cobtribution provides ability to encrypt the data going between your site and Paypal. osCommerce PayPal IPN Module v1.0 For 2.2MS2 http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2679 Support forum: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?sho...c=124298&hl=ipn Rik Rasmussen
