Import semi-colon seperated data from Supplier

Hi,

One of my customers want a webbshop designed to work together with their suppliers system that generates text-files every 24hours with a productcatalogue. There is also an update of the stock-status every 30 mins. My customer wants to use OsCommerce since they have used it before. The katalogue structure is also located in a file and needs to be imported into oscommerce.

I'm well aware of how to process through data with Regular Expressions and so forth but I'm wondering if there is any solution already avaible for this. I don't want to invent the wheel all over again...

There is also a mather of retrieving additional product info from pages the supplier supplies with product info and product images. Is there any ready solution for this or do I have to do this by my own?

The customer also wants this asap so I'm a bit stressed at the moment.

Thank you!

There is an Easy Populate contribution that might help.

Are you having this run automatically using a cron job or something?

Not sure exactly what you mean about the product info. What format does it come in?

On a soapbox note, don't allow yourself to be rushed by your client. Tell them that good work takes times and if they want it they have to wait. They can go get bad work anywhere. I see too many people bending over backwards to deliver osCommerce shops "ASAP" as if it is just an "just add water and stir" solution and for little money and it does none of us any good. We are just undermining our own industry.

Yes, I will probably make a script that makes the whole update and then put in a cron job.

The product info will have to be a separate script, I have realized that it has to be custom made for the site. So that's not an issue any more.

I will have a look at that contribution.

Yes, I have already informed my client that the deadline they set is a bit to near and that I can't guarantee that the deadline will be meet and that I don't make promises that I can't keep. And they responded by giving me an additional week if needed.

Thank you for your respons.

Hi Jimmy

Why don't you try to setup a real-time database connection?

I have installed a osc shop for myself and done all you are now asking for thru contributions etc.

Nowadays I notice easypopulates etc makes me tired and I prefer rather to have a live update. I never knew such was possible till I heard about it. I don't know myself how to do this but if anyone can please contact me. I am ready to pay a fee for it.
