eBlessings
Hello, I am interested in help resolving my ecommerce issue. The issue is that I have a Pay Pal account and a merchant account. I want to add the ability for my customers to use their credit cards. In the admin section of my store back office I see how to install the store, i.e., the install button. I do not know where to go from here in the back office. The banks are closed for the holidays so I cannot contact my bank, Wachovia. I do know they offer merchant services, but I have been advised not to get both bank merchant services and "outside" bank services. I do not understand this... does that mean I will be paying two people for the same service? I thought all I needed from the bank was a merchant account. I have also been told about authorize.net. Is this the only way to get connectivity for credit card usage on my site? How does it all work? I have two sites(stores): www.eblessings.us/shop and www.eblessings.us/exchange And... what about free merchant accounts, services and ecommerce solutions? I do not know if I can trust them. What do you think and what do you know? I would appreciate any and all feedback. I have been looking on the internet for information about how the entire process works. Have any sites for me to check? And are their sites where they(ecommerce solutions) are rated? Thank you in advance for all your help. I appreciate all help... since I am busy trying to find solutions for the starving, dying, sick children in Africa. Please help! You make a difference! RikR
Why not just let the customer use PayPal to pay with their credit cards. Then you do not need your bank, or to pay for a merchant account? Rik Rasmussen

Your "Electronic Payment Gateway" takes credit card info from the website and stores it in a secure manner where you can then take the money. I use TrustCommerce, which seems to work fine for me, but Authorize.net also works (although I've heard that Authorize.net is sometimes a pain to integrate w/ osC, but can't confirm this). eBlessings
Hello there! Thanks for the response. Using Pay Pal only is in progress, but 1) I have been informed by a potential client that AOL will not allow the use of Pay Pal (I do not know if that is true.) 2) I do know that you have to log into Pay Pal to use the Pay Pal option. I know my wife had to when she tested the system. I do not want people to have to do any extra steps when purchasing. It should be as painless as possible. I appreciate your comments. It is good to know that authorize.net may have some conflicts with osCommerce. Lord knows no one needs any conflicts, known or unknown. I will check out TRUSTCOMMERCE. Are there any free ecommerce solutions you all trust? One more question--Once I get the "Electronic Payment Gateway," then I suppose it will prompt me to connect somehow to osCommerce throgh the admin back office. Does anyone have any real experience with having made this connection? Please let me know! 'Preciate you!
RikR
You do NOT have to have a PayPal account, or log into PayPal to use a credit card, UNLESS the credit card you try to use is a card number already associated with a PayPal account, in which case they will ask you to log in.
