Theme/Skins for osCommerce

Recommended Posts

I tried to run a search for this topic since i figured it would be common discussion but didn't come up with much. Does anyone know of any resources (tutorials, guides, etc) that may give me a jump start on creating my own theme for osCommerce? Any Google searches just point me to people selling templets. I've made skins for other php based content management systems, but I know each one is it's own animal.

Oh, and side note... can i simply rename admin/index.php to something else so that it isn't accessable to anyone on the net? or any other way to secure it?

OK...for the absolute TOTAL newbie. :-"

Is there a utility that is step-by-step for modifying themes, changing the text or is it all modifying the PHP by hand?

I'm not a programmer by ANY stretch of the imagination, so it's all greek to me. I have managed (through the admin site) to change the payment options, add products and get everything setup, however it's still the default theme.

I would really appreciate any guidance with this. Would even be willing to pay someone if they had an idiots guide to modifying themes.

Thanks!

Shayne

Colors backgrounds fonts and sizes can all be changed in the stylesheet.css inside your catalog folder.

Take a look in the knowlage base for more info.
