SWOG
What is teh and where would I find this folder? Is it in the file manager or is it some place else? Thanks for your help. Sonya
241
normally the first page that people wish to edit is the front page which has the text about being a demo, this actual page is called index.php and also contains the instructions on how to edit the text for the page which like most text can be found in the languages text page. In the case of the index.php (front page) this would be found in catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php for more information you can read the Documentation and or Knowledge Base a link to which you will find in my signature or at the top navigation to this page No longer giving free advice. tonyv
What is teh and where would I find this folder? Is it in the file manager or is it some place else? Thanks for your help. Sonya <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes you will find it in the file manager... depending on your control panel, or if you use an ftp program.... within the file manager the file you want to edit which is the front page is located here catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php "catalog" can be a different name if you changed the name of your store to something else. like my_store or even snowboards or something so in that case the directory would be my_store/includes/languages/english/index.php or snowboards/includes/languages/english/index.php each /name/ = a folder name and the last /index.php is an actual file. to edit this file you will need the right kind of program however. You may not be able to just open it in any program... For instance if you use DreamWeaver , you can open it and edit it, but if you are using frontpage, you might consider downloading a program which is called "Crimson Editor" Very nice program and free. I use it to edit all kinds of files from php to html..... just go to your favorite search engine and type in Crimson Editor to find it..... after that, its all about what you can learn and how fast it takes you to figure it all out. Hope this all helps Good luck,, This place is a great source if you get stuck along the way. B)

mwog19
I was having trouble editing my index page as well. I've read several postings about these problems (parse error...unexpected T_String) and found out that I need to edit the language outside of the oscommerce file manager and then ftp it to my store front. I've done the editing, and I'm hoping that I have the language right, but how do I ftp it to my osCommerce store now? I have ftp Pro on my computer, so I have the software to do it, I'm just not sure where to go from here. Thanks in advance for your help! :'( use a decent separate editor to edit osC files. do not use the File Manager, it will mangle your files <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
