charles
Can you give me a link with maybe a guide to all this. Please thank you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Talk to your server administrator and find out what versions of apache, mysql , php, and phpmyadmin he has installed on the server which will house your osCommerce. go to zdnet or tucows and look for an server install script. You will have to read through them and preferably find one that has the same versions as your server to avoid possible developement conflicts. (for example, if he uses php 4 and you download php5, you may make a change which is incompatible) Pay attention to the ratings, they are a good guide as to quality. I used one called IBServer. A good install script will install and integrate all of these on your computer seamlessly and painlessly. In your web browser type in localhost/whateverthedirectorystructureunderwww of your server directory where osCommerce is. Edit the osCommerce files in a text editor. I use Wordpad, many people prefer to use something else which does not save with text formatting. always work from a backup copy. Keep a copy of CompareIt! on hand for when you break the cart so you can compare your changes to your last working backup copy. Get a good FTP program like Filezilla to upload your customized osCommerce. Can anyone else add anything else? Good luck, charles We stand in ignorance only for questions not asked.
