Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am about to put the finishing touches on the site...price declaration, customization, etc. Can you please go to the site and be as critical as possible...I NEED SOME HONEST FEEDBACK!!!!

SWOLEKICKS

Also...if someone could help me with:

1) pics---click to enlarge? not working...but very vital

2) I have a size chart that I want to include at the bottom of the page when a visitor clicks a shoe...have no idea of where to put the code

3) I forgot where my logo(on main page) is at...but its not in proportion...can someone guide me in the right direction

4) I didnt associate all of the shoes with their propestive manufacturer when entering in the products...is there a way to do this by category group versus one-by-one?

I think that is it on my end...again I would greatly appreciate the feedback...good or bad...namely bad.

Thanks and I think osCommerce is great...I have learned so much!!!!!!

First, the 42 colors and blink effects to highlight certain words in your opening schpeil should be cut out. Work on making it short, simple and to the point imho.

Other than that you have a pretty plain jane shop, which may be why you aren't getting any feedback here.

The URL name is nice though gj there.

As to your list of issues, you would probably get better luck in the support forums. But i will do my best.

I am fairly new to PHP myself, so use my advice at your own risk:

1) no idea

2)What I would do is make an info box and include it in the appropriate plce (product_info.php it think???) Easiest way I can think of to make an infobox is to copy one of the other php files and change the part that displays the HTML to waht you want.

3) easy enough, right click on the image check properties, that will guide you to the right place.

4) You might want to check out some of the contributions for uploader, I myself haven't gotten to the point where I am uploading anything so i can't be much help here.

I think you need a bit of a graphics rethink - that's graphics as in colour, images, the whole visual look. Less is more. Your front page could do with some restraint. Sorry, hard to see beyond that really

I am in the same boat as you - just learning to play with my site. I would say yours looks functional but as you look at some of the other sites here you will find them five steps ahead I would call those elegant.

For the most part I believe we have a few things to learn, first among them is placement, text commands, graphics and background. The sites I have seen with lots of feedback are those typically from folks with lots of experience so lets try and get them to comment to. They will be the ones to leave feedback with solutions.

For those of you with experience - we need to know how to begin - is there any index.php files anywhere with other faces for oscommerce?

Is there resouces to pay someone to do a facelift on the site.?

Thanks for your input too.

Hope that helps us get some conversation along these lines.

Just a few suggestions to point you in the right direction. Remember there is plenty of competition out there and unless you are the sole distributor for these products you have to give the customer a good reason to deal with you as opposed to someone they know and trust. B)

Just because you can use loads of different colours and flashing scrolling things doesn't mean you have to................ Sometimes less is more.

** Build customer confidence **

Where is your address (and maybe telephone number)?

Your returns policy is truly frightening and would put off most customers! If I buy a pair of shoes on-line I certainly would return them if they didn't fit. After all I can't try them on over the internet, can I? These conditions would be illegal in Europe. I'm not sure about the USA.

You should probably get rid of the cartoon images because they don't look professional. I think the official line is that they are intended as placeholders rather than to be used in live shops.

hth

have a look at matikoshoes.com as a reference point

sometimes, and this is one of those times, the issue is less about osC and more about basic design. whilst not the easiest script to template or skin - see Mambo for that - osC can be altered but the key is to havea design and execute against that design. If there is something in osC that makes your design difficult to achieve work out how to fix it incremental steps. There are some great ebooks by forum members that I'm sure I can't mention that demystify pulling apart a standard MS2 store. Once you know how to pull it apart you will be amazed at what you can do........provided you have a view on what you're trying to achieve.

Thanks! I think all of this is what I needed to hear...we are looking in that direction right now...re-designing the site altogether. But the templates are the hardest part...we know what we want the store to look like, but its getting it to look that way
