In addition to creating it, you need to fix the permissions so that the folder is writable. I would recommend doing this (and all file changes, for that matter) through a real FTP client. Personally, I use CuteFTP, but there's many good ones out there.

Thanks this has worked but it is now backing up all the time and filling up the space. The wrror messages now showing are

ATENTION: Sauvegarde de votre DB ... ( 7380 - db_mysql2248eff8ef09aabd7faef61f9fc-20050303082822.sql ).

Sauvegarde termin?e.: Verifier SQL

Can I make it back up only once a week?

Backup up all the time? osCommerce, at least the stock install, doesn't back up on it's own, you have to tell it to do so. Granted, I haven't gotten advanced with that system, but I'm pretty sure that's the way it works ...

The 'backup' function in the osCommerce 'admin' panel is manually operated - you have to click it to get it to perform a backup. There must be something else set in the web hosting control panel for automated backups to be continually activated.

I tried to do a wget statement:

wget --http-user=<userid> --http-passwd=<pwd> "https://www.<domain>.com/<path>/catalog/admin/backup.php?action=backup&download=yes",

but it just gave me a saved file with a bunch of HTML in it. Anything you can click on, you *should* be able to do using wget and pass variables. What am I missing?
