Adding a PHP file to index.php

I'm very new to PHP and oscommerce and I wanted to make my main page display items which would link to the info page. I tried to edit TEXT_MAIN but that didn't work. Using normal links(<a href.....) clear the shopping. :(

 

Now, i was wondering how to add another PHP file and call it instead of TEXT_MAIN.
