legacycode Posted February 9, 2005 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Is transferring all of the files in my existing oscommerce store to another host fairly straightforward? I have done so much sts work and modification to it, that to start all over again simply is not an option for me in terms of time. You can see for yourself at overstockmagazines.com. Guest Posted February 9, 2005 Share Posted February 9, 2005 1) copy files over 2) back up database(s) 3) create new databases on new hosting account 4) edit your catalog/includes/configure.php and catalog/admin/includes/configure.php to reflect the new paths / accounts for your new hosting account 5) edit your local (on your own PC) hosts file to point your new IP address to your domain name 6) if everything works, change the DNS settings to start sending customers to the new host 7) don't cancel your old hosting account yet, as you may get orders going to the new server AND the old server while the DNS change propagates throughout the internet. -jared Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
